PRESS: OPEN CALL: The International Bureau for Epilepsy, and UCB announce the III International Journalism Award
BRUSSELS, May 17, 2011 / PRNewswire / - The International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE) and the biopharmaceutical company UCB have summoned the Third International Epilepsy Journalism Award 2011. This award is a joint initiative to raise awareness about epilepsy in the entire world, by recognizing journalists who have excelled in the spread of this disease.
Epilepsy is the most common serious neurological disease among the population that currently affects nearly 50 million people worldwide1. Since its premiere in 2009, the International Epilepsy Journalism Award has recognized those articles most original and best documented about epilepsy and, year after year, has been attracting a growing number of high level participants from around the world , getting attention about a subject very little attention in the media, such as epilepsy.
The International Epilepsy Journalism Award is open to journalists from around the world who can present their own work or be nominated by others. The competition comprises three categories (press, radio and online and Radio / Television), in which they choose a winner for each of them. Nominations shall be evaluated by an independent panel of media experts and people involved with the world of epilepsy. The jurors will consider the journalistic based on objectivity, documentation, originality and ability to improve knowledge and awareness about epilepsy. Entries can be on any aspect related to the disease and must have been published or broadcast between October 30, 2010 and November 30, 2011.
