Thousands of former sugarcane occupied this morning around the Dominican Social Security Institute (IDSS) to demand their pensions earned from working between 30 and 50 years in the mills of the state.

Thousands of former sugarcane occupied this morning around the Dominican Social Security Institute (IDSS) to demand their pensions earned from working between 30 and 50 years in the mills of the state.
Former sugar workers arrived Salcedo Pepillo the street, in the expansion La Fe, in dozens of buses from different locations and bateyes.
Police officers carrying rifles and tear gas, remained in the vicinity of IDSS, whose doors were closed by security personnel.
Jesus Nunez, coordinator of the Workers Movement of Bateyes Cañeros said that for ten years the Social Security refused to pay the mill workers the money they deserve.
said that the movement has on file the records of thousands of workers, Haitians and Dominicans who have been cheated prestacionds payment of which they were entitled.

Nunez revealed that Mrs. Sandra del Rio, head of the department responsible for granting pensions to workers remains deluded.
